Pancit Molo is a Filipino soup dish that originated in the district of Molo in Iloilo City, Philippines. This dish is our adaptation of the Chinese Wonton Soup. The term “Pancit” translates to noodles and it uses strips and trimmings of wonton wrappers as a noodle substitute. The wonton filling is usually made with seasoned ground pork but you can also add shrimp if desired. The wontons are then cooked in a rich, flavorful chicken broth with shredded chicken and garnished with chopped green onions and fried garlic. To save time and make this dish even easier without skimping on flavor, we’ll use Wei-Chuan U.S.A., Inc. 美國味全食品公司's Frozen Pork and Shrimp Wonton and Wonton Wrappers.
In a pot over medium heat, saute garlic and onion until lightly browned and fragrant.
Add the shredded chicken and saute for a few minutes.
Pour the chicken stock or broth. Cover and let it boil.
Once boiling, add the pork and shrimp wontons in the pot. Let it cook with the lid on for 3 minutes.
Remove the lid, then add the sliced wonton wrappers. Season with chicken powder, fish sauce and black pepper
Stir everything to combine and let it simmer for another 3-5 minutes. Wontons are almost done when they start to float.
Ladle the wonton soup on serving bowls. Garnish with chopped green onions and fried garlic.
Serve and enjoy while hot.
