It is a fresh Spring Roll with origins from the Fuzhou region of China and has spread to other parts of the continent and adapted to match the regional cuisines.\u00a0<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<h5><!--more--><\/h5>\n<h5 dir=\"auto\">Our version of Popiah is inspired by the Thai version that features a super tangy and sweet tamarind sauce. Instead of making the popiah skins from scratch, we are using Wei-Chuan USA Spring Roll shells as the perfect substitute. In the spirit of Spring, I kept it light by making a vegetarian version. Fill with ingredients and roll. Use some of the Tamarind Sauce to help seal Popiah, but be careful to not over saturate as the wrappers may fall apart. Cut rolls into thirds, transfer to a plate and brush with sauce and top with garnishes.<\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><strong>PA LO TOFU\/VEGGIES<\/strong><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>2 c Fried Tofu, cut into \u00bd\u201d strips<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>1 c Jicama, shredded<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>1 c Carrot, shredded<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>1 c Bean Sprouts<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\">PA LO SEASONING<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>1 TB neutral oil<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>\u00bd TB Soy Sauce<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>1 TB Dark Soy Sauce<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>1 TB Light Brown Sugar<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>Salt\/Pepper\/MSG to taste<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>2 tsp Five Spice powder<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\">In a large skillet over medium-high heat, stir fry the veggies separately from the tofu using the same Pa Lo seasoning blend for each batch. Set aside and allow to cool before filling Popiah.<\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><strong>SAUCE<\/strong><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>\u00bd c Tamarind Concentrate<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>1 c Plum Sauce<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>2 TB Sugar<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>1 TB Fish Sauce<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>\u00bc c Water<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<h6>Crushed Bird\u2019s Eye Chili, to taste<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\">Combine ingredients in a pot and bring to a simmer and reduce until thickened. Allow to cool.<\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><strong><em>*Cooking time may vary based on equipment and quantity cooked in equipment.
